The shoes feature a sleek, modern design that combines both style and function, and present a clean, athletic look. The construction is robust, with a stiff sole and a raised heel that allows for deeper squats and improved posture during lifts. One of the standout features of the shoes is their solid, non-compressible sole, which provides excellent stability. The heel lift helps me maintain better squat form, and the increased angle allows for a more upright torso during Olympic lifts. This is especially beneficial when performing exercises like squats, clean & jerks, and snatches. Their stable base, heel height, and supportive design make them excellent choices for those looking to optimize their lifting form and performance. While a bit pricey, the durability and performance they offer make them a great investment for dedicated lifters. Whether you’re training for strength or competing, these shoes will support your needs in the gym. NOTE: sizing was slightly off. I’m usually a 9, and should have gone up to 9.5.
This is actually my first time using this workout style of shoe. I’m used to using Nike running shoes for daily activities and working out, so I was intrigued to see how these would be. I love the lightweight feel of these and the center arch plate looks like it would give a lot of support. For sizing, these fit pretty snug and I would have opted to go half a size up for more comfort. The shoe itself is feels very flat and low to the ground. This was my favorite feature of the shoe. I felt very stable using them for light cardio aerobics, but I don’t know how they’d be for a pure running. The Metcons would be better used for weight training for how sturdy underfoot they feel. I just don’t do much of that as my main form of exercise so these shoes wouldn’t be for me as I’m more of a runner. For general walking and casual use, these worked well and I plan to use them just for that. If your main training days are going to involve lifting, I could easily see how these could be your go to pair of shoes.
The Nike Metcon 9 prm are the best lifting shoes I’ve ever had. Not only is the design original and unique, the way the shoe forms to my feet and allows for a solid base when lifting is superior to other shoes. The wider toe allows for a balance I’ve never had before. The additional detail on the tongue adds a trendy way to secure the laces, it’s practical and stylish! 10 out of 10 recommend this shoe for your lifting needs!
